Spiritual direction is a prayerful practice of accompanying others as they deepen their relationship with God. During the process of spiritual direction and prayerful listening, a sacred space is created to allow others to tell their story and to be opened to the movement of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
Spiritual direction is not counseling, in that we are not necessarily "problem solving." In counseling, one focuses on our human-to-human relationships. In spiritual direction, we focus on our human-to-God relationship.
Spiritual direction is not coaching, in that we do not have a "goal" to achieve. Instead, this process is quite deliberate and slow. The goal, if any, is to be opened to the ways God is working in your life.
